Ali describes “A Journey From Religion To Reason” as a Pakistani Muslim who spent many years of his youth in Saudi Arabia. He was lucky and only experienced indoctrination-light but describes Saudi Arabia fundamentalist indoctrination-heavy, still practiced today. He explains how difficult it is to question one’s faith in a society where punishment for apostasy or heresy could be death. Although he believes Islam is a century or two behind Christianity in critical examination of their scripture, the Quran, he is hopeful for a similar moderation.
